Well you have to think about who these book are targeting: Pre-teens. I took a media literacy class recently and we discussed what advertisers and such do in order to target this audience. We talked about how in pre-teen advertisements they are often a lack of parents or if they do contain adults, the adults act like children, or are beaten by children. For example, In the television show on Disney called Phineas and Ferb, these children constantly out smart not only the man-child villain, but also manage to trick their mother who by the way is barely in the show. That is just one example. In commercials for tricks yogurt the kids refuse to share their yogurt with the sticky fingered rabbit because, "trick are for kids." Advertisers have studied this age group and concluded that pre-teens like the idea of independence and a world without parents. So it actually makes a lot of sense that the books they are reading also convey the same message.

Hey my first reaction when hearing storms/tornadoes/lightning/neighbor's house exploding is 'I'm gonna get my camera and go outside.' So.. perhaps the reaction is a Toledo contagion.

Random, disjointed!response is random and disjointed!

"So far today I've been in a train and a room, a car and a room, and a room and a room." Pretty much sums up a lot of that trip.

For the record, storms in and of themselves don't bother me as much as they did when I was a kid. Senior year I did the 6th grade camp cabin leader thing for Andrea. When you have to be the grown up in the situation, you learn to stop freaking out really quickly.I've been ok with storms ever since... just not the idea of tornados.

I did the toys in a bag in the basement thing too. I'm kinda amazed at how many people I know have done that at one time or another.

And given the picture's placement, am I meant to be pouty Jensen, 'cause I'm strangely ok with that.
