It was absolutely delicious and who is ever going to complain about getting steak and potpie for FREE?! Seriously… so good. If you’re interested in the recipes, fire me an email and I’ll send them to you.

I made a mix for my girl Lexi a while ago that was sort of a My Chemical Romance’s greatest hits of sorts… It’s changed a bit since I sent it to her because my OCD has KICKED UP a serious notch. (Though I still don’t really like their first album… I have a thing.) It is only appropriate to share that mix today as the concert is today and I am so jazzed it’s like I’m swooning over characters from Beverly Hills 90210. Oh Luke Perry… you’re so dreamy! I will say that the energy I’ve got for this concert is combating the sleep deprivation from waking up at FOUR IN THE MORNING for no reason at all.

Here. Have music! Even if you don’t like MCR all that much… I would try out I’m Not Okay (I Promise), House of Wolves, and Summertime as they’re probably my favorites.

I truly had the BEST birthday ever. It was chill and fabulous. I woke up after a great night’s sleep. Had some awesome food. Got coffee. Went to Dr. No’s for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY and picked up a gift for myself. I drove around in the beautiful sunshine with the windows down and the music up. Then I went to the salon and got my hair done… the massage they do to your head is like the most amazing thing in the history of amazing things. I met a bunch of friends at a restaurant for beer, food, and hilarious conversation. I got to see people I hadn’t seen in almost a year and it was just an amazingly fun night. (Slow servers aside, the food was really good.)

So as a party favor for the festivities I made a mix. I know… you’re all shocked. It’s all music that makes me happy and what more can you ask for, right!?

If you know me well, you know that I’m involved in what is called fandom. It’s inclusive nature reminds me of being in theater. All of these people excited about something to much that they can’t help but talk about it endlessly. Sports fans are built from the same cloth, just a more socially acceptable form of fandom.

Lately there’s been a trend of people using their time and talents to support charities the world over. My first experience with this was Sweet Charity. Thousands upon THOUSANDS of dollars were donated by fans to various charities, (Most notably RAINN The Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network) just because it was the right thing to do. During the writer’s strike, the money from Sweet Charity went to support the writers who pen the shows we love. It just boggles the mind that, in this time of disconnectedness, people still reach into their hearts to make a difference.

More recently communities like help_haiti (who, to date, have raised over $115,000.00), help_nz, and help_japan have popped up to make a change for the better just by being the generous fans they are.

I’ve been involved since Sweet Charity and my latest quilt sold for a final price of $64… which all goes to the Red Cross in Japan. That’s so exciting to me. Right now my other offers are going for $40 and $45 so that’s another $85 for Japan. I was feeling really helpless as far as truly being able to help out and this at least allows me to do something. My friends in Japan are all safe as of right now so I’m really grateful for that… and fandom is kind of amazing in it’s capacity to help out and do just gobsmacking things for no other reason than to be good people. It’s kind of stunning. When Sweet Charity started, I couldn’t believe how many people were involved and I still am just BLOWN AWAY by people’s sheer capacity to just be so wonderfully selfless.

So in closing… fandom…

So yeah. The snow, which was at first funny and kind of hilarious became a major bite in my ass because of the wonder that is having no vacation or sick time due to being a temp worker. Boooooo my friends. BOO indeed. I actually got quite a few hours because I was able to work on some spreadsheets and such to supplement the hours I LITERALLY COULD NOT LEAVE MY HOUSE!!! Fail Atlanta… serious fail.
